4 October 1979 - The Midland Times

Donald Rummells, 58, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Anamosa hospital Friday following a farm accident at his home northwest of Olin.

Rummell's wife returned home from work about 4 p.m. and was worried because he did not come to the house. Upon search, she found him pinned beneath his overturned tractor about a half-mile from the house where he had been hauling broken cement from a building construction project with the tractor loader.

She called the Olin Ambulance and the Olin Fire Department who assisted in lifting the tractor. Hospital attendants said that death apparently was instantaneous due to a spinal injury, and probably occurred between 9 a.m. and noon.

Funeral service for Rummells were held Monday at the Olin United Methodist church, with burial in the Olin cemetery. Rev. Edward Peterson officiated. Mrs. Mervin Chamberlin was organist. Pallbearers were Bryon Darrow, Paul Ketchum, James Gray, Harlan Tallman, Orville Meyer and John Husmann.
