AMBER--Funeral service for Henry Bailey, 52, who died on Thursday morning, May 15, at Mercy hospital at Anamosa after an illness of several months, was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Amber Presbyterian church. Rev. W. P. Nicholas, pastor of the church, officiated and burial was in the Amber cemetery.

Son of Philip and Katherine Peters Bailey, Mr. Bailey was born Aug. 12, 1888, in Jackson township, Jones county. He spent his entire life in this vicinity, engaging in farming and in the real estate business.

He enlisted July 24, 1918, for World war service and was assigned to Company F, 18th Infantry. He was sent immediately overseas and participated in the battles of the Meuse and Argonne. After the armistice he served in the army of occupation and received an honorable discharge Aug. 31, 1919.

An active member of American Legion, Mr. Bailey was given a military funeral by the Anamosa post.

He is survived by his father, Philip Bailey, and four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Preston, Mrs. Ella Andrews, Miss Dora Bailey and Mrs. Pearl Husmann, all living in the Amber vicinity. His mother and a brother preceded him in death.
