ONSLOW--Peter H. Schmalfeldt, 73, died about noon Sunday in Mercy hospital, Anamosa, after an illness of several weeks.

Mr. Schmalfeldt came to Jones county with his parents from Clinton county 60 years ago. They located on the farm two miles southeast of town where he has lived his entire life. Of his father's family only a sister, Mrs. Anna Clausen, Bryant, survives.

He is survived by his wife and seven children: John, Delmar; Mrs. Lavina Thompsen, Wyoming; Mrs. Anna Guhl, Olin; Ed and George at home; Mrs. Christine Womachka and Clifford, Cedar Rapids. One son, Harvey, died a few months ago. Four grandchildren also survive.

Funeral service was held from the Harrington funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday. Rev. Frank Schroeder of the Onslow Presbyterian church was in charge. Mrs. Wilson Briggs and Mrs. Howard Willison sang "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."

Pallbearers were C. M. Holst, N. C. Holst, J. R. Kennedy, J. L. Hanson, S. G. Hutton and G. J. Sears. Burial was in Wyoming cemetery.
