Mr. Henry Knake, 72, Onslow, died September 5 at Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa. He was born in Castle Grove Township near Monticello Sept. 23, 1906, son of Johann and Jessee Burns Knake. He was educated in rural schools near Monticello and in 1926 moved with the family to the Monmouth area.

February 22, 1944 he married Velma Dusanek at Wyoming. They farmed southwest of Onslow until retirement in 1972 and had made their home in Onslow since.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wyoming, former member of Lutheran Brotherhood and Onslow Mens Club.

He is survived by his wife, Velma; one son, John of Onslow; one daughter, Mrs. Merton (Carol) Burnett, Bennett; four grandchildren; two brothers, William, Cedar Rapids, Edward, Oxford Junction; two sisters Mrs. Anna Winter, Monmouth and Mrs. Alma Matthews, Cedar Rapids.

He was preceeded in death by his parents and one sister. Services were held Friday, September 7, at 1:30, Zion Lutheran Church, Wyoming. Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery. Pastor James Mattson conducted the services. Pallbearers were Herman Carstensen, James Curtain, Gene Dennisten, John Wurst, Raymond Taylor, George Wessels. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Deitiker, Marvin Doden and Glen Westphal.
