AMBER--Funeral service for Mrs. Margaretha A. Toenjes, 81, pioneer Wayne township resident, who died Friday at her home in Amber after only a few days illness, was held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wayne Lutheran church.

The Rev. F.H. Kehren, pastor of the church, officiated and burial was in the Wayne cemetery. Smykil's Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Rev. George J. Zeilinger, pastor of the Wyoming Lutheran church was organist during the service and a duet was sung by George Harms and Miss Mayeda Folkerts.

Pallbearers, all grandchildren of Mrs. Toenjes, were Leslie and Irvin Toenjes, Carl Folkers, Rex Heiken, Duane Herren and Herman Ohe, of Illinois.

Mrs. Toenjes was born May 13, 1859, at Dixon, Ill., and came to Monticello with her parents when but six weeks old. She spent the rest of her life in Wayne township.

She was married Jan. 28, 1877, to H. A. Toenjes who preceded her in death two years ago. Of their 13 children, the following survive: Mrs. Warner Heiken, Mrs. Herman Folkers and Mrs. Edward H. Herren, Anamosa; Mrs. E. J. Meister, Denver, Colo.; Miss Julia Toenjes and Mrs. George Siebels, Amber, and John C. Toenjes, Ireton.

She is also survived by three brothers, W. R. Zimmerman and Herman Zimmerman, Amber, and John Zimmerman, Monticello, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Behrends and Mrs. George Mardorf.
