John Stimpson, jr., about 50, World war veteran, died early Thursday morning at Mercy hospital.

Funeral service will be held either Saturday or Sunday at the Loder Funeral home, with Rev. H. E. Dalrymple officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Hill cemetery.

Mr. Stimpson is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stimpson with whom he made his home; two brothers, Tom Stimpson, former state representative who now farms north of the city, and George W. Stimpson, Washington, D.C., prominent newspaper man who is now the Washington correspondent for the Cedar Rapids Gazette; and one sister who lives in Chicago.

Mr. Stimpson underwent a major operation at the hospital more than two weeks ago and succumbed to complications which set in following the operation.
