MONTICELLO--John Behn, of Monticello, died Saturday evening July 1, at his home of a sudden heart attack.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 5, at 11 a.m., in the Congregational church, Monticello. Rev. A. Morris Lotte officiated at the service. Burial was in the Monticello cemetery. Goettsch Funeral home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.

He was born March 9, 1903, son of Henry Behn and Ina May Parks Behn, Maywood, Ill. He was a graduate of the Maywood high school and a graduate engineer of the University of Wisconsin.

He was married to Elieen Day, Anamosa, Jan. 7, 1938.

He lived in different Iowa communities before moving to Monticello in 1947. He was engaged in the electrical business until 1959 when he assumed the position of Monticello city clerk. He served on the city council for five years and was Mayor for three years. He was a member of the Congregational church and the Monticello Lions club.

Survivors include his wife, Elieen; two sons, John Behn, jr., Belle Plaine and Parke Behn; and one daughter, Carole Behn. Parke and Carole are both attending Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls.

Surviving also are a brother, Ray Behne, two sisters, Mrs. Henry Werner and Elizabeth Behn, all of Gleason, Wisc.
