February 16, 1961 - The Anamosa Eureka

Mrs. Dora Freeman, 94, Anamosa, died Sunday, Feb. 12.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m., at the Congregational church, Anamosa. Rev. Robert Cleveland officiated at the service. Burial was at Olin. McNamara Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers included Ralph Miller, Albert Ament, Julius Westphal, Eugene Rees, Harold Merritt and Arnold Downing.

She was born Dora Edith Glick, May 17, 1866, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Stevens Glick. She was married to L. G. Freeman Jan. 5, 1889, at the home of her parents.

Couple lived in Olin where Mr. Freeman was a rural mail carrier for many years. Later they came to Anamosa where Mr. Freeman was employed at the State Reformatory until his death on Nov. 17, 1950.

After Mr. Freeman's death Mrs. Freeman made her home with friends until her health began to fail. For the last several years she has been a resident of the Stoecker Custodial home, Anamosa.

In her youth she united with the United Brethren church, Olin. She later transferred her membership to the Congregational church, Anamosa.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.
