Funeral services for Mildred Briggs, 75, of Oxford Junction, were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery.

The Rev. R. J. Sigwarth officiated at the services. Mrs. Geraldine John was organist. Hayden's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and rosary was said there on Tuesday evening.

Briggs died Sunday, November 19, 1978, at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.

She was born April 28, 1903, in Bemidji, MN, the daughter of George and Agnes Dickenson Crocker. She was raised in Bonners Ferry, ID, where she graduated from high school. She attended Eastern Washington College.

On June 2, 1923, she married Philip Briggs at Cranbrook, British Columbia. They lived there for five years and then moved to Burns, OR. She taught elementary and special education students. there and he was employed by the railroad. In 1965, following the death of her husband, she moved to Oxford Junction. She has been a resident of the Maquoketa Care Center for one year.

Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Buresh, Oxford Junction; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, R. D. Crocker of Baker, OR; and one sister, Katherine Young of Portland, OR.

In addition to her husband, preceding her in death were her parents and an infant son.

Pallbearers were Robert Buresh, Joe Buresh, Joe Ruley, Howard Barto, Richard Wink and Norman Marr.
