Funeral services were held for Freeman Ethridge, 76, of Oxford Junction, Nov. 6 at the United Methodist Church. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Hamann officiated at the services. Hayden's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ethridge died Friday evening, Nov. 3, at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.

He was born April 7, 1902, at Pocahontas, IL, the son of Frank and Anna Weiss Ethridge. He moved to Iowa when he was 18.

On Dec. 5, 1927 he married Lydia Collins at Aledo, IL. They lived at Clarence for several years and moved to rural Oxford Junction in 1937 where they farmed. They retired to Oxford Junction in 1959.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Oxford Junction.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Rita Stange, Walcott; two grandsons and one sister, Bertha Yardon, Thornton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers were James Balichek, George Balichek, Richard Benhart, Ross Roller, Neal Bright and James Clapp.
