Graveside services were held Oct. 18 for August J. Hansen, 93, who died Monday, Oct. 16, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

Rev. Douglas Waggoner officiated at the services held at the Wyoming Cemetery.

Hansen was born near Olin on March 10, 1885, the son of Fred and Wilhelmina Utke Hansen. He was raised in the Wyoming and Olin area.

On June 19, 1912, he married Bernice Wherry at Wyoming. Hansen worked as a salesman, first in Nebraska, Colorado and Missouri, and in Iowa since the mid-1920's.

He has lived in the Waterloo area for the last 35 years. The last eight years were spent in a nursing home in Cedar Falls.

He is survived by one son, Robert, Silver Springs, MD; two grandsons; one brother, Will, Lisbon; and one sister, Minna Carpenter, Sun City, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one sister and two brothers.
