Faye Sills, Jr., 19, Olin, was fatally injured Sunday when the car in which he was riding left Highway 38 one quarter mile north of Olin and rolled over. Daniel Wagner, 16, Oxford Junction, sustained a broken ankle and lacerations in the accident.

The mishap occurred about 5 p.m., according to Iowa Highway Patrol Officer Albert Perkins, who investigated. When interviewed Monday, Perkins had not determined who was driving the car.

Perkins said the 1974 Chevrolet Biscayne, owned by Wagner, was southbound and traveling at a high rate of speed when it went out of control and rolled over three times before coming to rest on its wheels in the ditch on the west side of the road. The car traveled 160 feet through the ditch.

Both Sills and Wagner were thrown from the car and were lying about three or four feet from the vehicle when the officer arrived.

Olin's ambulance service and fire department were called to the scene. Both men were taken to the Anamosa Community Hospital. Sills was pronounced dead on arrival.

Sills was the son of Mrs. Vivian Mason, Olin, and Faye Sills, Cedar Rapids. He was employed by the Barnhart Construction Co., and had been working at the Lincoln school building project in Stanwood.

Funeral services for Sills were held Wednesday afternoon at the United Methodist Church in Olin, with Rev. Edward Peterson officiating.

Wagner is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wagner, rural Olin. He is a patient at the Anamosa Community Hospital where his condition is listed as stable.
