8 September 1960 - The Anamosa Eureka

OLIN--Chris Hans Peter Hansen, 88, Olin, died Monday, Aug. 29 at Mercy hospital, Anamosa.

Prayer service was held at the home of his son, Jesse, at 1:45 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, followed by services at the Campbell Funeral home, Olin, at 2 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of the Olin E.U.B. church, was in charge of the service. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

Pallbearers were Hans Rohwedder, James Cousins, Howard Mackey, Walter Laetare, Clyde Taylor and Jack Manuel. Ancient Landmark lodge, No. 200, Olin, was in charge of the Masonic services.

He was born Feb. 15, 1872, son of Jesse C. H. Hansen and Mattie Marie Jansen Hansen, Schleswig, Holstein, Germany. He came to America in November, 1901, settling in the Olin community, and had lived in the Olin vicinity since that time.

Nov. 24, 1904, he was united in marriage to Otilie Lovstad, Olin. Two children, a son and a daughter were born to this union. Hansens had farmed throughout most of their life, moving to the farm north of Olin, which Mr. Hansen still owned, in 1909. They retired to their home in Olin about 17 years ago.

He had been a member of Ancient Landmark lodge, No. 200, A.F. & A.M., Olin, for more than 50 years, serving for many years as Tyler of the lodge.

Survivors include his son, Jesse M. Hansen, Olin; his daughter, Emma Grafft, Anamosa; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; one brother, John Hansen, Vacaville, Calif.; one sister, Johanna Hansen, Denmark; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, May 28, 1948, his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
