OXFORD JUNCTION -- Joseph Milota, 89, Oxford Junction, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 31, at the Fejuary home, Davenport, where he had been staying for the last six months.

Body was brought to the Hayden funeral home, Oxford Junction, from which funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. Dr. E. A. Piper, of the Lutheran church, conducted the service. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

Mrs. Otto Koranda and Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen sang, and Mrs. Hayden was organist.

Serving as pallbearers were Otto Benhart, Joe Straka, John Burda, Frank Tye, Ed Zak and Joe Tye.

Mr. Milota was born Aug. 11, 1871, in Czechoslavakia. He came to the United States and to Oxford Junction in 1886, when he was 15 years old.

On November 28, 1899, he was united in marriage to Mary Wosoba, Oxford Junction. Couple farmed until retiring in 1910 to the family home in town. Mrs. Milota preceded him in death July 30, 1960.

He was a fifty year member of the Bohemian lodge Z.C.B.J.

Surviving are one son, Lumir, Davenport; one granddaughter, Mrs. Margaret Wells, Des Moines, and two great-grandsons.
