MONTICELLO--John L. Hein, 69, died Monday of a heart attack while working in a field on his farm near Monticello.

Services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church with Goettsch funeral home in charge.

He was a former director and president of the Federal Land bank and a former director of the Jones County Farm Service Co.

He was a member of the Masons.

Survivors include his wife, seven daughter, Mrs. Vernon T. Waldron, Manchester; Mrs. Victor Schemmel, Anamosa; and Mrs. Mark Lahey, Wilma Fitzsimmons, Mrs. Donald Rickels, June Hein, and Mrs. Harry Reade, all of Monticello; two brothers, Carl and Galen Hein, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Wismeier and Mrs. William Hoffman, all of Monticello.
