OLIN--Funeral services for John David Benischek, 12, who died of injuries suffered in an auto accident Sunday, Aug. 14, at Columbus, Ohio, while returning home with his parents from a vacation trip, were held on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m., at St. John Lutheran church, Olin. Rev. C. J. Mardorf officiated.
Pallbearers included Allan Rohwedder, Arthur Ehlers, Hilbert Stolte, Delbert Fisher, Walter Scharff and Frederick Engelking.
Henry Biere was soloist. Selections were "Beyond the Sunset" and "I Want To Be An Angel."
John was born April 21, 1948, at Anamosa, son of Grover Benischek and Irene Wigger Benischek. He was baptized July 4, 1948. He would have been a seventh grade student this fall. Classmates attended the services in a body.
Survivors include his parents; one sister, JoAnn, Mrs. Keith Dirks; one nephew; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wigger, Stanwood; Mr. and Mrs. Gus Toerber, Oxford Junction; and his great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Carstens, Lisbon; and many other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Benischek remain hospitalized at Mount Carmel hospital, Columbus. Mr. Benischek has a compound skull fracture and Mrs. Benischek has an injured back and a wrenched arm.
