SCOTCH GROVE - Memorial services were held Friday, Aug. 5, at 9:30 a.m., in the Presbyterian church, Onslow, for Miss Alvena S. Paulsen, who died unexpectedly in her sleep at her home in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, Aug. 2. She was a former resident of the Scotch Grove area. Rev. Wayne Norris officiated at the service. Interment was in the Wyoming cemetery. Wallaces of Wyoming were in charge of the services.

Pallbearers included six nephews, Darrel Paulsen, John E. Paulsen, Paul E. Paulsen, Ronald Paulsen, Ralph Paulsen, all of Scotch Grove and Neal Paulsen, Onslow.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lacock, Wyoming provided the music. Mrs. C. R. Smith, Wyoming, was soloist.

Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Paulsen, sr., Scotch Grove, she was born Aug. 6, 1894 at the Paulsen farm home in Scotch Grove. She received her education in the Scotch Grove schools and at Cedar Falls and was a member of the Onslow Presbyterian church.

Upon leaving the farm, she moved with her parents to Onslow where she made a home for them until their death after which she moved to Cedar Rapids where she had made her home the last six years. She had been employed in Monticello and in Cedar Rapids until the time of her retirement.

Survivors include four brothers, Paul and Emil, Scotch Grove; John, Onslow; and Harry, Monticello.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ed, Scotch Grove, and two nieces.
