7 July 1960 - The Anamosa Eureka

MONTICELLO-Herman Henry Zimmerman, 81, 314 W. South St., Monticello, died Monday afternoon, July 4, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Helgens.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 7, at 2 p.m., at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, rural Monticello. Rev. Otto Zwanziger officiated. Burial was in the Oakwood cemetery, Monticello.

Pallbearers included William Jansen, Alva Behrends, William J. Zimmerman, George Siebels, Carl Mardorf and Alva Zimmerman.

He was born Feb. 3, 1879, son of Arend Zimmerman and Anna Grumm Zimmerman, Wayne township, Jones county. He was married to Mary Collman, Monticello, Nov. 20, 1900, at Wayne Zion church.

Couple farmed in Wayne township until 1926, when they moved to Amber. After the death of his wife July 25, 1957, he had made his home with his daughter.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran church; president of the Amber Coop Lbr. co., and past president of German Mutual Ins. Co.

Survivors include one daughter, Lena, Mrs. Herman Helgens, Monticello; one brother, John B. Zimmerman, and one sister, Mrs. Matilda Mardorf, both of Monticello.

Other survivors include two grandchildren, Clifford Helgens, Monticello and Dorothy, Mrs. Harold Ketelsen, Florence, Ala.; and two great grandchildren.

Beside his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
