Funeral services were held for Spencer Scott Romer, 8, and Kelly Ann Stetler, 5, of Oxford Junction at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. The Rev. Doug Holmgren officiated. Annette Rehmke was organist. Arrangements were made by Hayden's Funeral Home.

The children died of smoke inhalation and burns on March 2.

Spencer was born January 9, 1970 at Iowa City, the son of Nancy Romer Stetler. He was in second grade at Oxford Junction Consolidated School and had recently joined Cub Scouts. He attended St. Mark's Sunday School.

He is survived by his mother of Oxford Junction, grandparents, Mrs. Marion Romer of Maquoketa and Lee Romer of Massillon; stepgrandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stetler of Oxford Junction and great-grandmother, Mrs. Francis Bahnsen of Oxford Junction and Mrs. Geraldine Romer of Wyoming.
