Henry H. Braun, 80, of Hale, died February 18 at Anamosa Community Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born in Howard County on October 12, 1897, the son of Henry and Edith Nickols Braun. He married Emeline Lloyd at Anamosa on September 2, 1947, and the couple farmed near Hale until 1971 when they moved to Hale. Henry was employed by farmers in the area for several years.

He is survived by his wife; four brothers and three sisters, William and Louis of Sumner, Orie of Fredericksburg, and Leonard of Chicago, Ill, Eva Nissen of Waverly, Druzella Angus of Lockport, Illinois, and Grace Han of Sumner.

Services were Monday, February 20 at 1:30 p.m. at Hayden Funeral Home. Rev. Ralph Grote officiated and burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Olin.

Soloist for the service was Loren Hartwig and accompanist was Vicki Von Behren. Pallbearers were Carl Markmann, Lester Odeen, Gene Lloyd, Charles Carstensen, Lyle Larkey and Bruce Conwell.

The ladies of the Hale community served a dinner and a lunch following the services for friends and relatives of the deceased at the Hale Community Building.
