Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 19 at Hayden Funeral Home, Wyoming, for William E. McCalmant, 89. Rev. John Osborn officiated, with burial in Wyoming Cemetery. Military graveside services were conducted by Wyoming American Legion Post #259.

William E. McCalmant was born near Wyoming on August 28, 1888, the son of Robert and Louisa Parks. During World War I, he served in France and England and in 1910, he married Bessie Gee. She died in 1918. He married Ruth Parsons in 1920, and she preceded him in death in 1946.

He was a live member of the American Legion and had served as Commander of the Wyoming American Legion Post #259 and as County Commander. For many years he operated a garage in Wyoming.

Surviving are seven sons, George, of Wyoming; Charles, of Monticello; Vernon, of Ogden, Utah; John, of Marion; Ivan, of Tucson, Arizona; William, of Wyoming; and Ben in the Air Force in Italy; three daughters, Rose Berry, of Center Junction; Mrs. John (Donna) Mott, of Tucson, Arizona; and Mrs. Elmer (Thelma) Rohlena, of Norway, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Kittie Felker, of Monticello; 27 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, an infant daughter, a son, a brother, and three grandchildren.
