Funeral services for Nettie Rowell, 72, of Hale, were held Thursday, December 1 at the Hayden Funeral Home in Olin. Burial was in the Olin Cemetery.

Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated at the services, and organist was Mrs. Gregg Von Behren, Olin. Pallbearers were William Woolison, Irvin Hotz, Merle Husmann, Billy Wright, Harold Becker, and Merlin Meier.

Mrs. Rowell died Tuesday morning, November 29, at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.

She was born December 23, 1904 in Kossuth County, the daughter of Harry and Alice L. Lloyd. She married Charles Rowell at Elmore, Minnesota on November 2, 1922. The couple farmed near Olin until retiring to Hale in 1970. Mrs. Rowell has lived in the Maquoketa Care Center for most of the past one and a half years. Her husband died in 1976.

Survivors are her two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Emaline) Braun of Hale, and Violet Lloyd of Burt; a brother, Meryle Lloyd of Dumont, and several nieces and nephews. Two children, Alfred Vozenilek of Maquoketa; and Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy Vozenilek) Meier of Bellevue, were reared in the home of Charles and Nettie Rowell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Dinner and lunch were served to the family, relatives and friends at the Hale Community Building by the ladies of the Hale community.
