Funeral services were held for Mrs. Mabel Carson, 81, of Oxford Junction at 11:00 on Saturday,. October 8 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. The Rev. Douglas Holmgren officiated at the services. Mrs. Vernon Steffens was organist.

Mrs. Carson died Wednesday afternoon, October 5, at her home.

She was born May 13, 1896 at Wyoming, the daughter of Henry and Julia Swallow Lage. She lived in Wyoming, where she was a telephone operator until her marriage to Vernon Carson on September 8, 1915. They farmed in the Wyoming, Center Junction and Oxford Junction areas, until retiring to Oxford Junction in 1945. Mr. Carson died in 1973.

Mrs. Carson was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Genevieve) Hayden of Oxford Junction and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Hansen of Silver Springs, Maryland; four grandsons, five great-grandsons and one sister, Mrs. William (Murial) Garrison of Rock Island.

In addition to her husband and parents, preceding her in death were one son, two sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers were Don Farmer, Jerry Garrison, Merle Lage, Marvin Lage, Harold Lage and Larry Otte.
