Helene Botilde Lorenzen, the daughter of S. M. L. 'Martin' Lorenzen and Brodine Johanna Christophersen Lorenzen, was born at Bryant, Clinton County, Iowa, on March 1, 1880, and passed away following a lingering illness at her home north of Clarence, Iowa on March 5, 1962, at the age of 82 years and 4 days.

She had lived in Clinton, Cedar and Jones Counties, all in Iowa. For the past 47 years she had lived on the home farm north of Clarence.

On January 17, 1900 she was united in marriage to Rudolph C. Dethmann at the home of her parents. Five children, four sons and one daughter were born to this union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1954. She was also preceded by both her parents, three sisters and one brother.

She is survived by one daughter, Viola; four sons, Oscar, Arnold, Marvin and Herman, all at home; two brothers, Louis and Julius Lorenzen, both of Olin, and one sister, Mrs. Amanda Levsen of Stanwood. She is also survived by a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A prayer service was held at the family home at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8th, 1962, followed by services at the Campbell Mortuary in Olin at 1:30. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, Pastor of the Olin E.U.B. Church was in charge. Nellie Stivers sang "Going Down The Valley" and "Lead Kindly Light" accompanied by Linda Sharon. Alta Cashman and Mary Jo Lorenzen were in charge of floral tributes.

Casket bearers were: Virtus Lorenzen, Grover Lorenzen, Carl Levsen, Leo Levsen, Louis Levsen and Max Levsen.

Interment was in the Olin cemetery.
