Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 19 at the Onslow Presbyterian Church for Elsie Ann Callahan, 86, of Monticello. Burial was in the Clay Cemetery. She died January 16, 1977.

Elsie was born Oct. 17, 1890 to William and Elizabeth French Orr on a farm near Onslow. She received her early education from area schools and graduated from Hahnemann Hospital, Chicago, as a registered nurse. After this, she was employed by the Veterans Hospital for 4 years during WWI.

After her marriage to Louis Callahan in 1925, Elsie became a private nurse.

Survivors include 1 son, William of Cascade; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 brother, David Orr of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin sister, 1 sister, 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild.
