Carl Hans Rohwedder, 83, died Thursday Jan. 6th at the Care Center in Mechanicsville, following a long illness.

Memorial services were Jan. 9th at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Olin. Services were conducted by a long time friend, Rev. Lloyd Dutro and Rev. Gary Dobbins, pastor of the church now. Burial was in the Olin Cemetery.

Carl was born Jan. 29, 1893 to Max and Ida Neilsen Rohwedder, near Olin. He grew up in the Newport vicinity northwest of Olin. On Feb. 6, 1918 he was united in marriage to Eulalia Merritt. The couple farmed most of their lives, until 1968 when they retired and moved to Olin.

He is survived by his 2 daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Alice) Winchip, Anamosa and Mrs. Paul (Esther) Myers, Olin; 2 brothers, Hans, Olin and Marvin, Tipton; 2 sisters, Mrs. Leona Mackey, Olin and Mrs. Ina Ford, Lake Geneva, Wis.; 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rohwedder was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 1 sister.
