Henry Carstensen, 71, former resident of Olin, and more recently of Anamosa, died at the Anamosa Community Hospital on Saturday, November 6, 1976, after an illness of several month's duration.

A family prayer service was held at Hayden's Funeral Home in Olin, on Tuesday, November 9, 1976. The Rev. Ralph Grote conducted the memorial services. Interment was in the Olin Cemetery.

Mr. Carstensen was born October 24, 1905, the son of Thomas and Margaretha Ahrendsen Carstensen, near Hale. Leaving Hale as a child, he moved with his parents to Oxford Junction, and received his education in rural schools and in the Oxford Junction school. He was a stock and grain farmer.

On May 6, 1933 he was married to Marietta Lyon at Anamosa. After spending most of their married life in and around Olin and Anamosa, they moved in 1973 to Anamosa, where they were residing when illness overtook him.

Survivors include his wife, Marietta; two brothers, John, of Oxford Junction; Albert, of Lisbon; and two sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Bertha) Ritze, Moline, Illinois; Frieda Smith, Rib Lake, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

The pallbearers were Harry Pegorick, Freddie Pegorick, Johnnie Pegorick, Charles Carstensen, Douglas Hoover and Harold Ellison.
