Wyoming, Ia., March 26--Garrett William Lasing was born at Albany, New York, April 1, 1838. He was a sailor and served on board a man of war during the civil war. He leaves his wife, three daughters and one son to mourn his death. Mrs. Lucy Robertson of Rock Rapids, Ia., Mrs. Ernest Gardner, Wyoming, Earl Lansing of Lincoln, Neb., and Mrs. Libbie Baram of Cedar Rapids. Also two sisters. The funeral was held at the home on Monday, March 19, the Rev. Bowder preaching the sermon from Job 38, ch. 13. The G.A.R. attended in a body. Burial took place in the Wyoming cemetery. This makes the first break in the family of the parents and four children. Had he lived until the first day of April he would have reached the ripe old age of 79 years. This makes the second death of the G.A.R. boys since Jan. 1.
