Funeral services were held for John Rathmann, 66, of Oxford Junction on Monday, August 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial was at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence. Officiating clergymen were the Rev. Ramon Booth of Cedar Rapids and the Rev. Douglas Holgren. The organist was Mrs. Vernon Steffens and the vocalists were Mrs. Otto Koranda and Herbert Rehmke.

Mr. Rathmann died Thursday, August 19th at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.

He was born January 11, 1910 at Flensburg, Germany. He was the son of Juergen and Johanna Carlson Rathmann. He, his wife and daughter returned Wednesday evening from a visit with relatives in Germany.

In 1923 he came to America with his parents and they lived near Wyoming. On May 1, 1934, he married Jennie Sievertsen and they first farmed near Olin. They moved to their farm south of Oxford Junction in 1945.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, John S. and Marvin of Ocala, Florida; James of Bettendorf; one daughter, JoAnn of West Palm Beach, Florida and four grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

The pallbearers were Keith Barber, Steve Barber, Richard Benhart, Vernon Vacek, Ervin Ahrendsen and Ray McFate.
