Daisy J. Chase, 94, died Wednesday afternoon, May 19 at the Senior Home, Monticello, where she had been a resident the past one and one-half months. She was born September 6, 1881 near Edgewood, the daughter of Christian S. and Lorana Bush Maxson. She received her early education in the Edgewood schools and graduated from Edgewood high school in 1898.

Daisy J. Maxson and Harry G. Chase were married January 10, 1916 in Scotch Grove. The couple lived in the Onslow, Anamosa and Edgewood communities prior to moving to Center Junction in 1933. Mr. Chase died April 22, 1955 and Mrs. Chase continued to make her home in Center Junction until recently when for three months she lived in Hopkinton, prior to becoming a resident of the Senior Home of Monticello.

She was a member of the Center Junction Presbyterian church, charter member of the Garden Club and a member of the Happy Hour club.

Surviving are her three daughters, Eileen, Mrs. Paul Ferguson Lake City, Imogene, Mrs. Raymond Bailey, Letts; and Mrs. Hollyce Loop, Hopkinton; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and a sister and two half sisters.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22 at the Center Junction church. Rev. John Osborn officiated. Casket bearers were Lonnie Hinrichsen, Lowell McMann, Eugene Eldred, Dan Brady, Bruce Daker, and Thomas Kinley. Interment was in South Mineral cemetery near Onslow.
