Charles D. Swordes, 63, passed away on Monday, December 29, 1975, at the Veteran's Hospital at Knoxville, Iowa.
He was born on June 1, 1912, in Wyoming, and has been a lifelong resident of that community.
He attended Wyoming schools and the University of Iowa.
He served in the Army during World War II. Upon his discharge, he resumed his trade as a mason.
He was a member of the Wyoming Methodist Church and the American Legion.
Surviving is his mother, Agnes Swordes.
He was preceeded in death by his father, Judson Swordes, a half sister, and 2 half brothers.
Services were held on Wednesday, December 31 at 2:00 P.M. in the United Methodist Church in Wyoming. Rev. Loren Simpson officiated. There was a military service by the Wyoming American Legion Post #259.
Pallbearers were Bernard Curry, Paul Heeren, Delbert Mayberry, Stanley Eichhorn, Harrison Morse and Melvin Petersen. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery.
