Funeral services for John G. Bodeker, 65, were held at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church Friday, June 28, with burial in Wayne Cemetery. Rev. Harvey C. Gilbertson officiated.

Mr. Bodeker died at University Hospitals, Iowa City, Wednesday, June 26, after a lingering illness.

He was born near Amber June 28, 1908 to Gerd and Sophie Brokens Bodeker and received his early education in the Amber school.

On Feb. 14, 1935 he married Irma E. Toenjes and the couple farmed for several years. Later, he was employed by Amber creamery and lumber yard, retiring 10 years ago due to ill health.

He is survived by his wife, Irma, a son, Gerald Bodeker, Marion; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Margeret Broderson of Wyoming, Mrs. Louie Hayen and Mrs. Clarence Herren of Anamosa and Mrs. Louie Rickels of Center Junction.

Two sisters, an infant brother and his parents preceded him in death.

Casket bearers were Alvin Harms, George Wessels, Marvin Engelbart, Gary Toenjes, Douglas Toenjes, and Rudloph Ulferts.
