The funeral service for John C. Jansen was held at Onslow Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 1:30 p.m. He passed away Feb. 9 at the Monticello Senior Home.
Mr. Jansen was born Nov. 5, 1889 near Wyoming to Andrew and Anna Jansen. He married Ina Maye Young on Aug. 18, 1915 in the bride's home near Onslow. They were engaged in farming one mile west of Onslow until retiring to their present home in Onslow in 1944. Mr. Jansen was a member of the Onslow Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Onslow Men's Community Club.
Survivors include his wife Ina, two sons, Donald and Daryl of Onslow, one daughter, Mrs. Forrest (Mary Clare) Briggs of San Bernadino, Calif., five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother, William T. Jansen of Amber, Ia., one sister, Frieda Umsted of Long Beach, Calif., several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
The Jansens celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August, 1965.
The services were officiated by Rev. Kenneth Hamann of Onslow. Thomas Gutzeit, James Lindsey, Paul Dietiker, Merle Lathrop, Herb Kinion, Lewis Norris were pallbearers. Interment was at the Wyoming Cemetery.
