FUNERAL SERVICES HELD AT WYOMING...WYOMING....
Mrs. John Bahnsen, 85, died suddenly Sunday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Meyer, in Westside. Mrs. Bahnsen had been there visiting since the first of Decmber. Christine Schmalfeldt Bahnsen was born in South Deitmarch, Germany, in 1856. At the age of nine she came with her parents to this county. On Sept 23, 1881, she married John Bahnsen in Carroll. The couple came to Jones county and Mrs. Bahnsen lived for 50 years on the farm that she and her husband settled. In 1909 she visited in Germany with her husband. He died 13 years later on March 4, 1922. Mrs. Bahnsen is survived by three daughters and seven sons: Mrs. Ed H. Martens and Mrs. William Meyer of Westside; Alfred Bahnsen of Monnouth; Mrs. Adolph Benning, Peter, Justus, Theodore, Ben, Soll, and Elmer Bahnsen of Wyoming; one brother, Peter Schmalfeldt of Wyoming; and one sister, Mrs. John Clausen of Bryant; 28 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Harrington funeral home, Rev. G.J. Zeilinger in charge. Interment was in the Wyoming cemetery. Pallbearers were Mrs. Bahnsen's sons.
