Sophia Krutzfeld Hodgden was born near Lost Nation September 29, 1887, to John and Marie Krutzfeld, and passed away at Iowa City September 20th, 1944, at the age of 56 years, 11 months and 21 days.

The family moved to a farm near Olin, where she was confirmed and became a member of the St. Paul Lutheran church.

On October 4th, 1905, she was united in marriage to Vernon Floyd Hodgden of Oxford Junction. To this union were born six children: Verda Merritt, Clarence; Erma Clapp, Hale; Floyd, Oxford Jct.; Harold of Toronto; Charles of Alburnett; and Wayne of Oxford Jct.; and eleven grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her departure with her husband and children, three sisters and two brothers, Louie Krutzfeld and Louise Proesch of Lowden, Fred Krutzfeld and Anna Houstman of Olin, and Rose Leslie of Oxford Jct., who cared for her for the past two years.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 at Wayne Hodgden's residence and at the Oxford Mills church Friday, Sept. 22nd, with Rev. Wilbur Altheide as clergyman. Music was furnished by Lyle Jeffrey and Miss Ruth George.

In charge of flowers were Mrs. Lillian Batcheller and Mrs. Lydia Ethridge of Oxford Jct., and Mrs. Emma Klahn of Toronto and Mrs. Sophia Rowold of Lowden.

Casket bearers were George Wlach, Otto Benhart, Charles Benhart, Harold Klahn, Austin Conwell, Fred McClure.

She was laid to rest in the Mayflower cemetery, Oxford Jct.
