DEATH OF WESSEL B. EDEN

Wessel Behrends Eden, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Eden, died, last Saturday, December 28, of pneumonia. He was first afflicted with influenza and because of the work and choring he felt compelled to do, he unduly exposed himself, and pneumonia developed. It was severe from its inception and terminated his life in a few days.

Two of his wife's sisters had died of the same disease, during the previous two weeks. The three, Mrs. Bohlken, Miss Burrack and Mr. Eden died one on each successive Saturday, and thus the members of the immediate family were called upon to attend a funeral on three successive Tuesdays. The funeral was conducted by Rev. S. Ide, the pastor of the Lutheran church, and interment was made in Oakwood cemetery.

Wessel B. Eden was born In Lovell Township, December 13, 1889. He was married January 5, 1916, to Miss Elise J. Burrack. Immediately following their marriage they made their home on a farm, a few miles southwest of Monticello, where they continued to live until the death of the husband.

He is survived by his widow, his parents, two brothers, Henry and Ede Eden and a sister, Miss Anna Eden. The young widow has been called three times to descend into the "dark valley." May she be sustained by One who has the power to soften her grief and lighten the burdens of her heart. Mr. Eden had all the activity of youth. He had confidence in his strength, and it was because of that confidence and his ambition to do for himself that he was led to overtax his strength at a time when he had become weakened by the insidious inroads of a treacherous disease. Mr. Eden was a member of the Lutheran church. He was confirmed in its faith In 1905.
