Funeral services for Mrs. Avert Cook, 82, were held at Anamosa Jan. 8 with the Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of the Morley-Forest United Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the Green Center cemetery.

Pallbearers were Leonard Austin, Darrell Hefflefinger, Lawrence Duncan, John J. Willison, Russell Tenley and Kenneth McConaughy.

Mrs. Cook died at the Anamosa Community hospital Jan. 6.

Laura Jane, daughter of William E. and Lila Tallman, was born in Rome township, Jones county, June 10, 1889.

She was married to Avert Cook Feb. 6, 1912.

Mr. and Mrs. Cook farmed throughout most of their married life in the same neighborhood where she was born.

She is survived by her husband, at home; 2 daughters, Louise Cook, Des Moines, and Mrs. Cecile Sproston, Marion, and a son, Marshall Cook, Montross, Va.; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Odessa Pieper, Mechanicsville and Mary Tallman, Anamosa.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
