Earl Bixler, 86, Buried at Olin

Olin - Funeral services were held for Victor Earl Bixler, 86, at the Hayden Funeral Home Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren church officiating. Masonic services were held Tuesday evening and a family prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Galen Alexander, Wyoming, was organist. Fred Reck, Edward Fall, Bliss Switzer, Gerald Kruse, Cecil Fall and Gene Pauli were pallbearers. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

Mr. Bixler died Oct. 22, following a heart attack. He was born Dec. 31, 1880, the son of Andrew and Susan Wohrer Bixler, in Cedar county. He attended the public schools and was a carpenter.

He was married on March 26, 1902 to Edith Long and they made their home in Clarence. They later moved to Jones county and farmed until 1933, when they moved to Olin and he resumed his carpentry trade. They noted their golden wedding anniversary in 1952.

Mr. Bixler was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Olin, receiving his 50 year certificate in 1966.

Preceding him in death was his wife in 1958, his parents, a brother, 3 sisters and 4 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Mrs. James (Evelyn) Postel and Harland Bixler, both of Olin; Mrs. Dillon (Clarice) Story, Wyoming; Mrs. Claire (Alberta) Fairley, Savanna, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Sylvester, Wilton Junction, and Mrs. Bertha Evers, Stanwood.

Luncheon for the family and friends was served at the Legion Hall following services.
