Olin Man Dies Of Heart Attack

Olin - Funeral services for Louis Hartwig, 67, were held Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. in St. John American Lutheran church with the Rev. Daniel W. Mohr officiating. Mrs. Larry Scharff was organist and Henry Biere was soloist. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.

Pallbearers were Fred Close, Marion Cruise, Willard Hoyman, Arno Lawson, Virgil Vernon and Henry Weseman.

Mr. Hartwig, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Hartwig, was born April 2, 1900 in Madison township, Jones county. He was baptized May 13 in St. John and was confirmed March 28, 1915. He served on the church council.

Mr. Hartwig was raised and received his education in the Olin vicinity. Sept. 6, 1928 he married Lillie Guhl of Olin. The Hartwigs farmed near Olin for about 30 years and then moved into Olin. Since that time Mr. Hartwig has worked at various jobs in the community and was employed by the Olin Livestock Company where he died Dec. 4.

Mr. Hartwig is survived by his wife, Lillie, 2 daughters, JoAnn Elaine, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Joseph (Joyce Arlene) Lasack, Olin; 5 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Walter Reber and Mrs. Arthur Burgard, both of Monroe, Mich., and 3 brothers, Robert, Lisbon; C. Ernest, Olin, and Leonard, Hale.
