Thanks, the dates gave me a better start.

I thought it was possible to just submit a name, place of death and a time-frame to get a death certificate? I may be wrong. In any Case, with what I found, both Arthur and Emma died some time after their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1946.

There are other ways to determine parentage, like looking at newspaper articles, which is what I occassionally do for people. While I could not find obituaries for Emma or Art (which is what Arthur James Kloos seems to be known as), I have posted a bunch of articles and a few obits for you that should be of use.

It seems that Arthur Jr. became a fireman also. I believe he is still alive. If you type "arthur kloos, ia" into Google.com, you will see a phonebook listing for him in nearby Shellsburg, Benton County. You may want to call him up!

I will send you two articles, which include photos, albeit bad newspaper scanned versions.
