I found an Obit for Wm. SHAY in the Oxford Leader on Feb. 7, 1929 and also in the Davenport Democrat and Leader on Feb. 10. 1929. His age was given as 70 and that he was a member of St. Patrick's in Iowa City.
I got these thru Newspaper Archive. There does not appear to be anything from the Iowa City papers on line in 1929.
