Joseph A. Haman, Jr, 71, of Swisher, Iowa died suddenly on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at the funeral home with Reverend Judy Gingerich officiating. Following the services Joe will be cremated with burial at Oakland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Johnson County Heritage Trust.

Joseph was born April 24, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Joseph A. and Louise (Holoubek) Haman. On December 30, 1953 he married Mary Sedlacek, they later divorced. On December 1, 1983 he married Mary Cole. Joe worked for Proctor and Gamble for twenty six years as a Project Technician.

Upon his retirement Joe was able to pursue his passion for hunting and enjoying the great outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Cole of Swisher, IA; by his eleven children; Bernadette Wojtak (Michael) of Elk Grove Village, IL, Daniel Haman (Dao) of Boise, ID, David Haman (Ann) of Jensen Beach, FL, William Haman of Huxley, IA, Dolores Schlesselman of Baytown, TX, Leo Haman of Cedar Rapids, IA, Irene Tappan of Kalona, IA, Joseph Haman III of Coralville, IA, John Haman of Iowa City, IA, Jolene and Catherine Haman of Swisher, IA. He is survived by three sisters, and one brother; Karen Flemming (Jim) of Maplewood, MN, Diana Wilson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Pauline Stark (Michael) of Bettendorf, IA and Tom Haman (Sue) of Iowa City, IA, he is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. George ( LaVonne) Haman of Iowa City, IA. He is survived by 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His parents and one brother, George, all preceded him in death.
