Robert R. Rominger, 77 of Coralville died Tuesday January 24, 2006 at his home from cancer.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday January 27, 2006 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 1300 Melrose Ave, Iowa City with Rev. Mark Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers friends may donate to the University of Iowa Holden Cancer Center, 200 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, IA 52242 or Iowa City Hospice.

Robert was born on January 13, 1929 in Iowa Falls, IA to Ross and Phyllis (Hamilton) Rominger. He graduated from the Pillsbury Academy in Owatanna, MN. Robert married Darlene Wimmer on May 16, 1951 in Valley Junction, IA. Bob was a paratrooper with the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. He worked for Hoxie Fruit Co. for 20 years in Des Moines and then, for Hawkeye Food Systems in Tiffin for 20 years.

Robert was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, I Club, Coralville American Legion Walter Johnson Post #721. He was an avid Hawkeye fan who helped out with the Carver Hawkeye Arena Campaign and was an enthusiastic duplicate bridge player.

Robert is survived by his wife Darlene of Coralville, a daughter Connie Saboe (Ron) of West Union, IA, a sister Judy McNeil (Lynn) of San Jose, CA, a daughter, Kathy Metcalf of Phoenix, AZ. and two grandsons Michael and Jeffery.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
