WEST LIBERTY -- Anthony Carney, 81, of West Liberty died this morning at a Muscatine nursing home after an extended illness.

Requiem high mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in West Liberty with Rev. J. J. ?ath officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery.

The rosary will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. at the Snider Funeral Home in West Liberty.

Mr. Carney was born June 8, 1886 in Ireland and came to the United States as a young man. He was employed for many years as a cook at the Globe Cafe in West Liberty.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
