Daniel Mattes, 69, of Iowa City, died Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Mercy Hospital of cancer.

According to Daniel’s wishes he was cremated and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.

Daniel was born March 14, 1936 in Iowa City the son of Daniel and Mary (Bireline) Mattes. He was in the army from 1958-1960. Dan married Chris Finley on November 23, 1987 in Winona, Minnesota. He worked as parts manager for Pyramid Services since 1964.

Dan was a member of the Johnson County Archers and the Iowa Parachute Team.

Dan is survived by his wife Chris, sons Michael (Ellen) of Tiffin and Robert (Linda) of Cedar Rapids; and his grandchildren Corey, Casey, Mary Martha, Daniel and Jessica.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.
