Leonard “Len” Roggow, 70, of 88 Olive Court in Iowa City, died Tuesday, January 11, 2006 in his home unexpectedly of natural causes.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave. in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to University of Iowa Athletics, c/o UI Foundation, PO Box 4550, Iowa City, IA 52244.

Len was born July 14, 1935 in Lucas, South Dakota, the son of Alvin and Grace (Grow) Roggow. He graduated high school from Spencer, Iowa. Len was a long-time resident of Iowa City. He was a barber at Allen’s Barber Shop and then worked as a buyer in the purchasing department at the University of Iowa. Len was an all-state football player, a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, an avid golfer and fisherman, and an Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Len is survived by his children, Brad (Amy) Roggow of Mountain Ranch, California and Ann (Doug) Scott of West Des Moines; his siblings Bonnie Rawlings, Merv (Bev) Roggow, Doris (Allan) Jensen and Duane (Paula) Roggow; five grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda and Megann Roggow and Madison and Abigail Scott; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Len was preceded in death by his parents.
