Bill Winkel, 68 of Iowa City died Tuesday January 10, 2006 at Mercy Hospital of a heart attack.

There will be a celebration of Bill’s life on Saturday January 14, 2006 at Bill’s furniture store, The Loading Dock, 424 E. Jefferson Street, Iowa City starting at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Bill’s name.

Bill was born on August 21, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Ramona (Larson) Winkel. He married Kay Loshbough in February of 1961 in Berrien Springs, MI.

Bill was the owner of Brighton Oil in Brighton, CO, he worked at Oral B for twenty plus years and was the owner of The Loading Dock Furniture Store in Iowa City.

Bill is survived by his wife Kay of Iowa City; three daughters: Jennifer Winkel Thompson and husband Juan of Denver, CO; Alisa Winkel and partner Pete Laborde of Denver, CO; Andrea Haines and husband Paul of London, England; a son, Phil Fontana and wife Carrie Watson of Iowa City, IA; and three grandchildren: Ellis Matthew Fontana, William Hunter Winkel Thompson, and Madelynn Kay Fontana.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

In his memory, grab a Pepsi, a newspaper and question authority. He was a true original and will be missed terribly by his family and friends.
