Ardith L. Ropp, 80, of Kalona, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at the Pleasantview Home after a sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kalona Mennonite Church with the Revs. Scott Swartzendruber and Mick Murray officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona.

Visitation will start at 7 a.m. Friday at Peterseim Funeral Home with the family present from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests your donations be made to Kalona Mennonite Church or Kalona First Responders.

Mrs. Ropp was born April 17, 1925, to Samuel and Cora (Brenneman) Hershberger in rural Kalona. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Farmers Supply Sales Inc. with her sons.

She was a member of Kalona Mennonite Church, WMSC, Idris Club, Crowded Closet volunteer, Red Hat Society, Mid-Prairie Council of Churches, and many church activities including teaching Sunday School and Bible School cook.

She married Ernest Ropp on December 15, 1946, in East Union Mennonite Church in Kalona.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Phil and Joyce Ropp, Myron and Vicki Ropp and Warren and Denise Ropp, all of Kalona; grandchildren, Stacy and Nate Miller of North Liberty, Nicholas and Courtney Ropp of Harrisonburg, VA, Kim and David Sheppard, of Algonquin, IL, Brandon Ropp of Littleton, CO., Justin Ropp of Iowa City, Heather Ropp of Kalona, Heath Ropp of Ames, Theresa Kauffman of Denver, CO, Jennifer and Jon Zabrocki of Tinley Park, IL; great-grandchildren, Drew and Kendall Sheppard, Noah Miller, Emily, Faye and Will Zabrocki; one brother-in-law, Ervin Miller of Frytown; and one sister-in-law Fontelle Hershberger of Cedar Rapids.

Her husband, Ernest (Ernie) Ropp (July 2, 1994); parents; two brothers, Gene and Sam Hershberger; and one sister, Jennis Miller, died earlier.
