Opal L. Yoder, 87, of Kalona, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona. Celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.

Opal worked at the University of Iowa for 14 years. She was married to George W. Yoder. She is survived by her four children: Marlin and Judy Yoder of McLeansville, N.C.; Harlen and Mary Yoder of North Liberty; Deanna Redlinger of Kalona; and Donna and Lynn Merck of Kalona. She is also survived by her siblings Ralph Yoder of Marion and Hazel Kelley of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.

A memorial fund has been established for the United Christian and Baptist Church and Kalona Historical Society.
