Lucille M. “Annie” Thomas, 83, a longtime resident of 614 10th Avenue in Coralville, died peacefully Sunday, January 8, 2006 at Windmill Manor in Coralville.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at Lensing’s Oak Hill, Coralville, where the family will greet friends after 10am. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. A luncheon will follow the committal at the Coralville American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Amenity Hospice, 211 1st Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401.

Lucille was born November 2, 1922 in Iowa City, the daughter of William & Catherine (Reese) Villhauer. Lucille, better known as “Lou”, was raised in Iowa City and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She married Robert G. Thomas March 19, 1942 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Lucille and her husband farmed near Red Oak, Iowa from 1942-1956.

Lucille worked for 33 years as a physical therapist assistant at University Hospital Schools for severely handicapped children, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed traveling, doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo, and playing cards with her sisters and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City, the Altar & Rosary Society, the Red Hat Ladies Club and a volunteer with Mercy Hospital Guild.

Survivors included her children,
Ann (Mike) Barnes of Huntington Beach, California
Allen (Sandy) Thomas of Denver, Colorado
Ronald (Diane) Thomas of North Liberty
Jon (Sheri) Thomas of Iowa City

seven grandsons,
Ty (Linnea) Thomas, Chad Thomas, Tom Barnes, Jason Thomas, Travis (Susie) Thomas, David (Kristi) Barnes, Blaine (Kellie) Thomas

two step-granddaughters
Wendy (Paul) Sprague and Amy (Chris) Hartzell

and eight great-grandchildren

her sisters,
Mary Graf Reddick of Iowa City, Dorothy Belger of Iowa City, Phyllis Jedlicka of Iowa City

Many nieces & nephews

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, William Jr. and three sisters, Cecelia Williams, Helen Delsing and Lois Michel.
